Experience Fill The Gap
Working Towards a Brighter Future
Our AIM
Our aim is to fill the gap in the lives of teenagers (age 12-24) who are living on the streets. As teenagers, we know how important our homes and the family that lives with us are. Sadly, one-quarter of the homeless population is teenagers (age 12-24) which is a huge problem. Our initiative, “Fill the Gap” aims to give essential resources to people aged 12-24 and hopefully enrich their lives. The donations given to people are hopefully a starting point to helping them save the little money they have and eventually lead them to be able to afford accommodation.
WHY WE STARTED
Our Individual reasons
In November of 2020, I lost my grandfather to Parkinson's disease. This was really hard on my family but losing him is not why I went into charity work. My Grandpa was always donating any money he had to help people in need. So when I lost him I wanted to keep helping people in memory of him. I have seen how a small simple act of kindness can brighten someone's day. But the thing that inspires me is the idea that you never know how that small act of kindness could change someone's life in ways you didn't even think of. - Brenton
I feel as though everyone deserves to be happy and have good things in their life. Charity work has been very important in assisting me to give opportunities to those less fortunate and help in any way I can. By providing them with basic necessities, their quality of life can increase along with their state of mind and level of happiness. I think it is important to help those who may be struggling in any way possible and provide assistance and guidance throughout hard times. - Sophia
The reason I wanted to join my friends in this initiative was because I have always had a passion for helping others where ever possible. I knew that being a part of this initiative would assist me in being able to do more for those that need it. What inspired me to join my friends on this journey was knowing just how many people are struggling from homelessness especially at such a young age. I want the chance to make a difference and change someone's life for the better. - Angelina
I started doing charity work because I wanted to help those in need. Giving people a chance to live a better life and have a more positive outlook on who they are. Being able to make a difference in someone's day feels really good and being able to assist in making that difference in their life is a feeling I will never forget. It brings me incredible joy and happiness to know that I am able to do something to help and bring some kind of light someone else's life. - Isabelle
